PLASTIC FREE MORNINGTON PENINSULA
Plastic Free Mornington Peninsula is the first Victorian project for Boomerang Alliance's Plastic Free Places program. It is funded by the Commonwealth Government (under the Plastic Free Beaches initiative) and Mornington Peninsula Shire Council.
In a nutshell, the program works directly with food retailers and assists them to switch from single-use plastics to better alternatives.
But... that's just the beginning. We also work with councils, suppliers, manufacturers and composters to deliver real solutions to businesses.
And if that's not enough.. we aim to inspire our community (i.e. YOU) to make changes in your own life and support those businesses that do too.
Our impact as at Oct 1, 2021 is...
'Business members' refers to businesses who joined our Plastic Free Places trial program in Mt Martha, and 'Pieces of plastic eliminated' is the number of plastic items they collectively eliminated during the trial period.
